The Familheey networking platform run by the Houston, Texas based My Family Group has now emerged as a community platform for the 5000 strong Igbo Catholic Community in the Greater Houston, Texas area.
The Familheey COVID-19 Community Response Giveaway Event was held at the Igbo Catholic Community Centre on Saturday, May 9, 2020 was a case in point. The Houston based My Family Group sponsored the Drive-thru Face Mask Giveaway to help families stay safe through the COVID-19 pandemic. Those who participated in the event described it as a steady flow of ‘cars, trucks, bikers and even a few on foot’.
Familheey is a mobile app that uses its unique structured communication to build spaces for community members to stand together on a common digital platform. Familheey has a host of special features that will enable faith communities like the Igbo Catholic Community to connect as one community, engage with its members and grow its outreach programs.
Speaking on the Igbo Catholic community, Mr. Francis Ekwen, President of the Houston-based Igbo Catholic Community said: “ As a community, our critical challenge at has been to stay connected as a family group and work together as one community in these times. Familheey provided us with solution at hand to keep us connected and engaged in growing our mission.
Since the onset of the global pandemic, the Familheey COVID Support Network was in the news for its role in the forefront of fighting the Coronavirus pandemic. The mobile app supported doctors, healthcare workers and global communities across the US, Africa, India and Australia:
- Arranging medicines, equipment and supplies to reach different parts of the world
- Creating a COVID-19 networking platform helping doctors to collaborate across countries
- Providing timely information and latest information from WHO and healthcare organisations
